Panelists include:

Adrian Clapp '92

Co-owner, Pinnacle Publishing Group

Adrian Clapp, along with his wife, Patricia Norins Clapp '95, publishes two quarterly trade magazines for retail entrepreneurs in the specialty retail industry. In addition, they produce an annual trade show in Las Vegas for the cart and kiosk industry called SPREE, and two additional annual conferences for shopping center developer executives. Clapp also oversees the content and development of more than 10 company websites, including specialtyretail.com.

Prior to joining PPG, Clapp served many roles in educational publishing, including editorial, production, and operations at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (elementary and high school market) and Pearson (college market).

Adrian majored in environmental and physical geography at Clark, and earned his M.B.A. in entrepreneurship from Babson College in 1999.

Kate Lied '07

Publicist, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group

Kate Lied grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and spent most of her time in the local children's bookstore. When she was 12, "Potato: A Tale From the Great Depression," a family story that she had written down for a school project, was published. Lied moved to New York City after graduating from Clark University with an English degree, and taught kindergarten for two years before getting an internship at a publishing company. She then worked in the publicity department at Bloomsbury Children's Books for three years.

Andrew Sollinger '87

Managing Director, U.S. Financial Times, Commercial Operations

Andrew Sollinger has been reponsible since January 2009 for all U.S. Financial Times advertising in the Americas.

Previously, Sollinger was Managing Director of Money-Media, the U.S.-based market leader in online news and commentary on the fund management sector. He was part of the executive team that sold Money-Media to the Financial Times in January of 2008. Before joining Money-Media in 2005, Sollinger was Group Publisher of Capital Markets at Thomson Media in New York, where he held various roles in strategy and new product development from 1997-2004. Prior to joining Thomson, Sollinger was an editor with Institutional Investor magazine for nearly 10 years, including eight years in New York and a year each in London and Hong Kong.

While at Clark, Sollinger learned a great deal about publishing as Executive Editor of The Scarlet, reporter for Business Worcester magazine and contributor to an ill-conceived self-publishing venture with a few fellow Clarkie numbskulls.
