Introduction to Tai Chi

Gary Donovan ’73 is certified as an Integral Tai Chi and Qigong Teacher and he has been providing instruction for over eighteen years. Similar to many tai chi sessions for newcomers or more advanced students, we will start with some gentle stretches, move to energy cultivation practices, and end with learning several tai chi postures. Some major tai chi principles will be explained in general but participation in the “flow” of meditative movement will likely enable you to experience why tai chi is often described as “medication in motion.” Those new to tai chi are encouraged to join and more experienced students are also welcome. To practice, loose clothing and comfortable footwear are recommended.
