Letter from the Chairman of the Board

As chair of the Board of Trustees and member of the class of 1989, I welcome this opportunity to write to you.

Clark University alumni have a unique perspective on this institution, one that's bred not just from a sense of nostalgia, but from a desire to see continued progress in the way we serve students. You can help make a tangible contribution to Clark's success by voting for an alumni representative to the Board of Trustees.

The Alumni Association Nominating Committee has identified three outstanding candidates for your consideration. Please take the time to read their statements and cast your vote for the person you would most like to see serve Clark University as an alumni-elected trustee.

This is an exciting and critical time for Clark, which makes your participation essential. The University continues to fulfill its mission of educating students at the highest level and preparing them for consequential lives and careers. Applications are rising each year and our rankings continue to improve in prominent media including U.S. News & World Report (No. 75 in Best National Universities) and Forbes (No. 16 in America's Most Entrepreneurial Universities). The Princeton Review named Clark No. 3 among the "25 Best Schools Making an Impact."

We still have work to do. President Angel has held open forums to hear student concerns about race and affordability at Clark, and has proposed thoughtful initiatives that offer a productive approach to these issues. The Board is increasing its focus on areas that reflect the strategic goals for Clark's next five years, including strengthening our national reputation, adding resources and improving the outcomes for our recent graduates.

The Board of Trustees is working closely with the Alumni Association to expand and strengthen the role of alumni in shaping the University's future. Also, the Association has broadened its alumni engagement opportunities through events held across the country and internationally, such as Clarkies Take New England and the GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) brunch series. By choosing an alumni representative to the Board, you play an important role in charting the course of your University. Thank you for your vote.
